Maman Maison teamed up with the fabulous Polly Markus of Miss Polly's Kitchen to bring a night of fun and fashion to the 1050 Precinct.
Miss Polly was in-store for the evening promoting her new cookbook 'Seriously Delicious' and personally signing books for our customers as great stocking fillers and gifts for the holiday season.
We unveiled her summer salad and summer cocktail that she designed with Maman Maison in mind.
Heirloom Tomatoes with Salsa Verde
I love to serve this at a summer barbecue alongside anything that's come off the grill or a beautiful fresh pasta. I would also rustle it up as a starter with toasted bread.
If heirloom tomatoes aren't available, use a combination of small vine-ripened sweet tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and a larger beef variety.
* Serves 6
4 large heirloom tomatoes
Olive Salsa
½ cup pitted jumbo green olives - roughly chopped
½ cup pitted jumbo Kalamata olives - roughly chopped
½ cup finely chopped Italian parsley
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon capers - chopped
1 garlic clove – minced
To make the Olive Salsa, mix the ingredients in a bowl. Season with salt and cracked pepper.
Cut the tomatoes into thick slices. Arrange on a serving platter. Spoon the Olive Salsa over the top to serve.
Paloma Cocktail
We all love a margarita, but if you ask me, this Paloma Cocktail is just as delicious! Made with grapefruit and lime juice, it's sweet, sour, and refreshing.
60 ml tequila - blanco preferred
120ml ruby red grapefruit juice
Sparkling water
Fresh lime juice
Sea salt for the rim
Fresh grapefruit for garnish
Rub the rim of a highball glass or margarita glass with a grapefruit wedge, and dip it in a small plate of salt. Add the tequila, red grapefruit juice, sparkling water, and lime juice to the glass, stir to combine, and add ice to fill the glass. Sweeten to taste, and garnish with a grapefruit or lime wedge.
Enjoy!
