10 YEARS TOGETHER

BECCA DAVIDSON

Family, First Shopper, and Trusted Confidante

Becca Davidson’s connection to Maman runs deep, not only as a passionate supporter, but as family to founders Kate and Emma. Becca had a very close relationship with Kate and Emma’s mother Deb, who of course,  is the inspiration, the heart and the compass, from which Maman started. From day one, Becca has been a steady and heartfelt presence in Maman’s story, with a belief in the vision that has never wavered.

She was part of the original circle of friends who rolled up their sleeves and helped Kate and Emma bring the very first Maman store to life. Dusting, cleaning, steaming clothes, and making sure everything was perfect for opening day. Becca was also one of the very first customers to make a purchase from that original Clonbern Road store, and years later, she was the very first customer to place an order on Maman’s online store, launched quietly the night of New Zealand’s first COVID-19 lockdown. That simple act became a quiet but powerful symbol of hope and resilience for the whole team.

But Becca’s role has always been more than customer. She has been a trusted sounding board, confidante, and caring ear to Kate and Emma, offering thoughtful advice, encouragement, and perspective through every phase of Maman’s growth. Her presence behind the scenes has helped shape the spirit of Maman just as much as her presence in-store.

Outside the boutique, Becca brings that same warmth and drive to her professional world. She is pioneering a new industry in AgriTech as Commercial Director of Deer Milking New Zealand and Founder of Nutrideer and DoeZ. At the forefront of innovation, she’s producing natural health supplements made from New Zealand deer milk. Her entrepreneurial spirit and deep-rooted family values reflect Maman’s own commitment to community, authenticity, and continuity.

As we celebrate Ten Years Together, Becca represents what this milestone is really about: enduring relationships, shared values, and the people who make it all possible. She is, in every way, part of the Maman family.

Who introduced you to Maman?

The gorgeous Kate and Emma. They are like sisters to me.

What’s your first memory of shopping at Maman?

Oh gosh it is a funny one, as I had a 2 year old at the time. I took Harry in to the changing rooms with me while I tried on clothing. He started crying so I picked him up to console him and he sneezed a big snotty sneeze all over me and the beautiful tee shirt I was trying on! Safe to say I ended up having to buy that tee!

Do you have a special piece from Maman that holds a story or memory?

I think my first pair of Philippe Model sneakers about ten years ago. I was never really a sneaker wearer – I always like to wear something with a wee heel like a boot or wedge. But these shoes were divine, they had gold features with leopard accents and were quite chunky so didn’t feel like the old Chuck Taylors I had. They went with everything and were the shoes that converted me to a sneaker wearer!  I thrashed those shoes, loved them!

How has Maman been part of your personal style journey over the years?

I can honestly say the personal styling by the girls and their clever in-store team has been amazing. They’ve brought me pieces I’d never normally try, whether it's the size, style, or pattern, because they truly understand my personality and style. I love their honesty when something doesn’t quite work, and over the ten years, my style has evolved with my age and stage. Whatever I’ve bought, I’ve worn with pride, I'm always getting compliments like “I love that top” or “Those jeans are amazing!” It feels so good to hear that. I've never considered myself hugely fashion-forward (farm girl!), so I truly thank the girls for making me feel like a fashionista!

What does Maman mean to you in three words?

Authentic. Empowering. Chic.

Which Maman moment or event stands out most in your memory?

THIS!! Ten years!! I am so incredibly proud of Kate and Emma and everything they’ve experienced in their journey. I’ve watched them both grow so much, as businesswomen, bosses, and sisters, through thick and thin. They’ve overcome countless challenges and triumphed time and time again. Their mum, Deb, would be so proud. One moment that really stands out was when they won the 2018 Retail Business of the Year at the Orakei Business Awards. I was there that night with them, and it truly brought a tear to my eye. Seeing them recognised in front of their business community was such a pinch-me moment in their journey.

What’s your go-to Maman outfit that makes you feel most like you?

I’m a jeans–tee–knit kind of dresser most of the time, so I love Maman’s denim, tees, and chic casual pieces. Even though it’s just jeans, sneakers, and a tee, they somehow make me feel so classy, sophisticated, and good about myself.

What has kept you coming back to Maman over the past 10 years?

It’s the way the girls keep it chic, fresh and relevant, and I love the honesty and direction they give to every individual woman who walks through their door. We’re all different, and yet within seconds, they seem to understand each woman’s unique style and personality. It’s a rare and clever skill to be able to curate the perfect pieces based on their instinct alone. Kate and Emma have truly honed this intuition so beautifully for their customers.

If Maman were a person, how would you describe her?

Chic AF.

What would you like to see from Maman in the next 10 years?

I would just love to see Kate and Emma continue to flourish, evolve, pivot, ride the wave of where they want Maman to go. I am not comfortable to offer strategic direction to their business, but I will be right there by their sides wherever it may go, just as I have been these past ten years.
