This month, in celebration of Denim at Maman, we had the rare chance to ask Anine herself a few questions. From her personal denim staples to the pieces she’s wearing on repeat, it’s a glimpse inside the wardrobe (and the mindset) of one of fashion’s most influential forces.

What inspired you to launch your own denim line, and how does it reflect the overall aesthetic of Anine Bing?
Denim has always been at the core of ANINE BING. It was actually the reason I started the brand, I could never find the perfect pair. So I decided to design my own. At the time, it was all about skinny, low-rise styles with a rock ’n’ roll edge. Since then, our denim has evolved. I still love a great skinny, but I’m also drawn to the perfect straight-leg or a relaxed, wide-leg fit. There’s nothing better than putting on a pair of jeans that fits just right.
Denim is such a classic wardrobe staple, how do you put a modern, Anine Bing spin on it?
Denim is effortless, timeless, and the foundation of my everyday uniform. Our new styles feature subtle details like AB logo embossing on the silver button hardware and the jacron patch on the back, small touches that make it distinctly ANINE BING.

What do you look for in the perfect pair of jeans; fit, wash, or feel?
All three! I love every wash, from faded vintage blues to classic black, because denim brings an effortless feel to any outfit. But above all, comfort is key. We always design with that in mind.
What’s your go-to way to style denim for day and night?
During the day, I usually pair our denim with one of our graphic tees,it’s so easy. To take it into night, I just throw on a blazer. It’s the kind of styling that feels elevated, but still effortless.
If you had to wear one pair of jeans for the rest of your life, which style from your collection would it be?
I’m in love with our Kate denim. It has that perfect ’90s-inspired cut, straight leg, mid rise. A true classic that feels both timeless and effortlessly cool. I wear mine almost every day. I’m also obsessed with the Hugh jean. It has a wider leg that’s perfect for spring and summer, styled with a crisp button-down or a simple tee. Both are staples in my wardrobe.
